Five strategies I could use in class: The first strategy that I could use to not only help me but give students the appropriate que to start cleaning up supplies and put their projects away would be a clean up song. I have had kids try to sing the one from Barney and It always drove me nuts but I can see It really helping with my time management. Next is Budget. I can use budget when doing my project with balsa wood bridges. I have them calculate an estimate of what the bridge would cost, but it is a generic figure. I think that it could be beneficial to the students to write out an entire budget for the project. Third is daily outline. If I were to use this daily outline A lot of the students would be able to refer to the board or wherever they are written to keep them on the targeted time line for project completion. This would also help them become self learners and check with what is written before asking me what needs to be done next. Symposium is what i would like to incorporate into my class more. I have a few projects where students present information to the class. I think that I should have more structure for the questions asked at the end. We usually don't have any questions but if I turn it into a grade for the audience, to come up with two good questions per presentation, I think I will get better response and learning. I also would like to incorporate the 3-2-1 strategy. This strategy can be helpful when Making It Happen: I did find it some what difficult to relate a lot of the book to a day to day classroom environment. Some of the things that I did take out of this book are when setting up my new unit on broadcasting, I will be able to better act act a project manager. It will help me to delegate what needs to be done and set up my unit like a real world news station, giving the students the feeling of relevancy and ownership to their broadcast. Task analysis: Some of the tasks that students will be engaging in for my presentation will include various components of broadcast journalism. There are any large topic areas throughout the presentation that will be discussed. After assessing the students prior knowledge to each topic, they will then be assigned a job. That will be broken down into smaller tasks for the students to carry out to produce a successful broadcast. For example a student who is in charge of capturing the broadcast using a professional video camera will have to go through a training program for students to learn individual tasks such as camera angle, lighting, zooming and overall operation. Content analysis: Content analysis is used for breaking down topics rather than a step by step procedure or task of doing something. I think that through my presentation the over all content would be broadcast journalism with tasks such as turning on and using the equipment. I think that some content would be overall flow of a show. Some content that cannot be taught in tasks would be the overall design of what the show should look like after being edited. Presentation Audience: The audience for this presentation will be made up of various eighth grade students. The students will range in ability levels. Most of which have little knowledge of the topic. The classes vary in ethnicity and gender from class to class. There are varying quantity of students who have IEP's and 504 plans as well as being pulled out for additional support in reading and mathematics. Presentation Idea: The presentation I would like to create for these students is about broadcasting. We are piloting a new unit this year To have the students create live feeds to be shown throughout the building to act as morning announcements. I would like to give students a basis of skills and knowledge that is needed to be successful with this task. |

Bad presentation I did not think that this was a great presentation. 015 10 bad presentation habits View more presentations from Stephen Remedios Taking Learning Seriously I though that this was a very interesting article. To relate the terms inertia, fantasia, and amnesia are demonstrating exactly what the authors describes throughout a lot of this article. How in order to profess learning or profess teaching the student must be able to have something brought out and then put back in. For me knowing what these words meant initially brought "the inside out" and then taught new material through the article and from that the "outside went in." |
